For Catholics, the Sacrament of Baptism is the first step in a lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship. Whether we are baptized as infants or adults, Baptism is the Church's way of celebrating and enacting the embrace of God.
Parents wishing to baptize their child at St. John the Evangelist must be registered in the parish and in good standing. They are required to attend a preparatory session prior to the baptism.
Baptism Prep Sessions are scheduled through the Parish Office, please phone the office to make arrangements.
The Church requires Baptism Sponsors to meet the following guidelines:
Can. 874 §1. To be permitted to take on the function of sponsor a person must:
1/ be designated by the one to be baptized, by the parents or the person who takes their place, or in their absence by the pastor or minister and have the aptitude and intention of fulfilling this function;
