Organist And Director Of Music
Sook Hyun Kim is currently serving as the Organist and Director of Music at St. John the Evangelist Church. Ms. Kim holds B.M and M.M degrees from the University of Colorado in Boulder and completed the two-year Professional Studies Program at the Juilliard School in New York City. She studied organ with John Weaver, Elizabeth Farr, and organ improvisation with Gerre Hancock. She has also studied piano with Robert Spillman and Nina Lichuck.
Ms. Kim has performed in master classes most notably with Simon Preston, David Higgs, and Stefan Engels. Most recently, Ms. Kim has devoted study to César Franck's major organ works and numerous French organ repertoire at the Princeton University Chapel with Eric Plutz. As a concert organist, Ms Kim has performed in many of the major notable venues in the United States, Europe and Asia such as the Alice Tully Hall in NYC, Jack Singer Concert Hall in Canada, and Emmanuel College in Cambridge, England. In recent years, she has participated in the International Keyboard Institute and Festival at the Mannes College of Music in NYC. She has also extensively collaborated with numerous chamber groups, brass ensembles and soloists as a pianist and accompanist. Ms. Kim's previous organ positions include Redeemer Presbyterian Church in NYC, Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton, Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church in Basking Ridge, and the Trinity School in Pawling, NY.
St. John Chamber Choir
We are currently looking for new members for our St. John Chamber Choir which will meet on Saturday afternoons and sing at the 5:00pm Mass. If you are interested, please contact our Director of Music.
The Friends of Sacred Music at St. John the Evangelist
The Friends of Sacred Music at St. John the Evangelist is a group of Parishioners interested in supporting and enhancing the liturgical music of the Mass and religious celebrations with the goal of reaching a deeper form of worship.
Cantors play a very important role in Mass by leading the parishioners in responses and hymns. Cantors are needed for the 5:00 PM Mass on Saturday, and 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM Masses on Sunday.

Saturday At Six
This unique chamber music concert series is presented during Advent and Lent. The chamber musicians are talented and accomplished seasoned professionals that perform a variety of ensemble works. The concert is presented at the end of Saturday evening's Mass.

The Saturday at Six concert series will present
the Caritas Chamber Chorale this Lenten Saturday,
March 4, 2017 at 6pm at St. John the Evangelist
Church. Caritas will also minister at the 5pm Mass
prior to the concert. A freewill offering will benefit
the Adorno Fathers' St. Francis Caracciolo Mission
in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa.
Repertoire will include early American hymn tune
arrangements as well as contemporary choral

Weddings At St. John
Our music program provides music for wedding Mass and ceremonies. If you are interested in having a soloist or instrumentalist at your wedding, St. John maintains a roster of professional musicians, therefore no outside musicians will be permitted to perform in the church.
